FAQ
The only way to know for certain that any material contains asbestos is to have it analyzed by a laboratory in accordance with an approved method.
For the State of MA, an AQ 04 Asbestos Notification Form (ANF-001) must be filed for the project at least ten (10) working days prior to starting any removal or disturbance of any Asbestos containing materials.
For the State of RI, only single-family owned homes do not need a State and EPA Notification. For any other project, there needs to be an Abatement Plan and an Approval letter from RIDOH. The Asbestos Contractor must be filed for the project at least ten (10) working days prior to starting any removal or disturbance of any Asbestos containing materials.
Most people exposed to small amounts of asbestos, as we all are in our daily lives, do not develop these health problems. However, if disturbed, asbestos material may release asbestos fibers, which can be inhaled into the lungs. The fibers can remain there for a long time, increasing the risk of disease.
